The tasks in the area of building research are to be located at the Kompetenzzentrum Bauforschung (KBF) as before.
"The merger results in significant advantages for all parties involved, as synergies are used and competencies are bundled," says Gunther Graupner, Managing Director of ZAB, who has been successfully managing the Kompetenzzentrum Bauforschung for several years.

However, the field of action should not only be further developed, but also expanded to include more significant building research fields.

The focus will be, for example, on construction operations, productivity, digitization, automation, robotics and human resources (e.g. jobs, occupational safety, work processes).
