The construction of the new administration building marks the beginning of the campus development of the Technical University of Nuremberg. The design aims to offer an economical, sustainable and future-orientated solution that is convincing in terms of both urban planning and functionality. The building forms the prelude to the campus and is positioned in such a way that it can be flexibly extended.
Large window fronts open up the building to the street and invite visitors in. Greenery on the façade contributes to the microclimate and creates a protected outdoor area. The usable office units of up to 200 square metres, which do not have corridors and can be easily reconfigured at a later date, offer particular flexibility.
The core of the building was made from recycled concrete. All façade elements were prefabricated from PEFC-certified wood. It also fulfils high energy efficiency standards, similar to a passive house.
