Adnet elementary school

A new elementary school is being built in Adnet over a planned construction period of two years. The current school will be renovated and extended using the existing building. Space is to be created for a total of twelve classes and a pre-school class. In addition, a separate area for afternoon care for around 100 children, an assembly hall, a dining hall, a checkroom and a functional, separable gymnasium will be created.

The spatial layout of the school building designed by Huber+Theissl Architekten is functional with a generous room concept and supports the implementation of modern pedagogical approaches. The functional layout with plenty of space and open areas and high-quality furnishings with terrazzo floors, wooden floors, wooden windows, exposed concrete and exposed wooden surfaces enable free and relaxed learning. An underground connecting corridor will link the elementary school with the secondary school opposite, which will also be technically adapted. In the area between the schools, a partially covered, spacious playground will be created by rerouting Sportplatzstrasse. The new bypass will also create a spacious open area for the children, which will not be affected by traffic and will allow them to learn and play outside safely and undisturbed.

Heat pumps and a photovoltaic system, which will be used jointly by the primary and secondary school, as well as passive cooling via underfloor heating and cooling and night ventilation, will create synergies and make the ongoing operation of the school campus more efficient. Completion is planned for the start of school in September 2025, at a cost of EUR 20 million.
