The use of renewable energy and the avoidance of fossil fuels is also the main focus of SÜBA's "EsslingLiving" residential complex at Rosthorngasse 5 in Vienna's 22nd district. In its energy concept for the building with 82 residential units, SÜBA is using concrete core activation for the first time: energy from the groundwater is used to enable year-round heating and cooling in the building. The enormously high storage mass of water-bearing pipes in the concrete ceilings serves to temper all apartments in the complex with the lowest possible energy input and thus enables a constant room temperature of approx. 20° to 25° degrees throughout the year. The heat pumps required for the concrete core activation are powered entirely by electricity from renewable energy sources.

"A large-scale photovoltaic system has also been installed on the roof of our climate-friendly "EsslingLiving" residential building. The electricity generated from this is fed into the building's own heating and cooling system and enables complete independence from external energy suppliers during peak summer periods," explains SÜBA board member Manfred Wachtler. The use of sustainable technologies in SÜBA properties promotes climate protection and at the same time results in a direct reduction in operating costs for the residents.
The Rosthorngasse site was realized by SÜBA together with long-standing partners, the general contractor Implenia and the architectural firm Maurer. "Essling Living" was taken over by real estate investor Bank Austria Real Invest at the beginning of June and the apartments are offered for rent. The property, which is also certified to klimaaktiv standards, has residential units with one to four rooms, ranging from 33m² to 109m², as well as 46 garage spaces. Each apartment offers generous open spaces such as loggias, balconies, terraces or gardens. Tenants of the property also benefit from the attractive green belt in front of it. Added to this is the perfect infrastructure of the Donaustadt district. There are local shops, schools, doctors, public transport and many attractive leisure activities for the whole family in the immediate vicinity.
