District sports hall Wangen

The new three-court sports hall in Wangen was built to replace the ‘old sports hall’, which was around 70 years old, between the north and south vocational schools on the edge of Wangen's old town and is a modern multi-purpose hall characterised by its spacious architecture and versatile usage options. Another special feature of the building is that recycled concrete was used in all precast concrete elements and in the concrete of the hall structure. 100% of the 1500 tonnes of concrete were produced using recycled concrete.

The district sports hall in Wangen serves as a central venue for various sporting events, school sports and club activities in the region. With its spacious playing areas and good technical equipment, the hall offers ideal conditions for a variety of sports. The district sports hall is an important meeting place for sports enthusiasts and actively promotes community life in Wangen and the surrounding area.
The district's own guidelines for sustainable construction are being implemented for the first time in the construction of the new sports hall in hybrid timber construction: The wood used comes from a radius of up to 200 kilometres, and the hall was planned entirely without PVC, which placed special demands on the electrics. 100 per cent recycled concrete with a high proportion of recycled aggregate was used in all precast concrete elements. The roofs are planted with regional Allgäu seeds, with the substrate designed to provide a habitat for microorganisms. The roof will also be equipped with a 99 kWp solar system. The hall is heated by underfloor heating, which is connected to the municipal district heating network.
