Housing project „GeWoZu“

The GeWoZu project combines 12 individual flats for 20 adults and 13 children in a sustainably built terraced house. The use of recycled materials such as recycled concrete, wood, straw and clay ensures environmental friendliness. A geothermal heat pump, a photovoltaic system and rainwater utilisation contribute to energy efficiency.

The building was financed by bank loans, own funds and a pool of assets. The GeWoZu association is the owner and manages the moderate rental structure. Communal areas such as a large cloakroom, a guest room and a sky lounge strengthen the feeling of togetherness among the residents.

In the GeWoZu project, communal living means that each party has their own compact flat with kitchen and bathroom, while communal rooms are available to everyone. This makes living space more affordable and actively promotes neighbourly living.

A large communal kitchen and a playroom for children are available for social occasions. The garden invites you to enjoy a coffee, and a guest room with its own bathroom is available for overnight guests. There is a workshop and a communal office for craft activities. The bathtub on the top floor can be used for relaxation and the view can be enjoyed from the roof terrace.

When designing the building project, the owners placed particular emphasis on sustainability. In this respect, the decision was made to prioritise the use of recycled concrete in order to generate sustainable living space. A total of over 650 m³ of concrete was used, with around 250 m³ of this being recycled concrete. This corresponds to a share of around 38 per cent. The recycled concrete was used where it was technically possible.
