House for seniors Henndorf

The house for senior citizens in Henndorf was opened in 2023 and offers 48 people a new home. The new building combines urban planning and functional requirements for a cross-generational village community. Toddler groups are located to the north, schoolchildren's groups to the east. A traffic-free meeting zone as well as seating niches and play areas provide recreational areas.

12 senior citizens live in a shared house, each with their own room and bathroom. Fresh food is cooked in the large eat-in kitchen and the staff organise the day with the residents.

In addition to the forward-looking utilisation concept, the project also attaches great importance to sustainability and energy efficiency - heating and cooling is provided by means of component activation.

The concept of the new building combines urban planning and functional requirements to create a cross-generational village community. The extension of the toddler groups is located to the north, while the school children's groups are organised at ground level to the east. A spacious, traffic-free meeting zone for young and old will be created in the centre. The green zones in the group rooms open up to the garden and terraces, while seating niches and play areas in the corridors create additional recreational areas.

In addition to the forward-looking utilisation concept of the retirement home with house communities and communal usage structures, the building project also set high standards in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency. Energy and heat are generated via a large-scale photovoltaic system on the roof (130 kW peak) and geothermal energy. The buildings are heated and cooled via 16 duplex deep probes, each with a depth of 150 metres. In order to optimise the use of the energy generated, building component activation was used. Thanks to their thermally activated storage mass, the concrete buildings enable optimum utilisation of geothermal energy in winter and, conversely, temperature control in summer by extracting heat. The senior citizens' building has two storeys and is heated and cooled via the ceiling. The extension to the toddler group and school children's group building is a single-storey building and is also heated and cooled via the ceiling.
