Straubenhardt fire station

The new fire station in Straubenhardt was designed according to Cradle to Cradle principles. Many measures were incorporated into a holistic concept for the project. The result is a building that leaves a ‘positive footprint’. For example, by actively cleaning rainwater, improving air quality and being resource-positive. Particularly high quality requirements were specified for the choice of materials and the development of structural solutions. The façade construction can be completely dismantled and is highly recyclable. The modular timber construction elements can be reused after use. In the rooms, only the necessary surfaces have been finished. By saving on adhesives, wallpaper, paints and plasters, the load-bearing walls and elements remain recyclable. In order to obtain information about the materials used, a building material passport was created. It turns the building into a repository of raw materials that can be used for generations to come.
