On the grounds of the Tübingen public utility company in the south of the university town, Steimle Architects realized a new administration building for Südwestdeutsche Stromhandels Gesellschaft. A square floor plan and nearly white facing brickwork on all sides ensure that the facades appear equal. The office floors are flexibly laid out and can be divided into cellular and group offices as well as open office landscapes. Good use of daylight is ensured by the large, landscape-format windows with angled reveals.
As a municipal energy supplier, Südweststrom paid particular attention to a sustainable design. The building is planned in accordance with EnEV 2014 and meets the KfW Efficiency House 55 standard. The administrative building is heated via district heating. The distribution is carried out, among other things, via a component activation of the concrete cores. The power supply is partly covered by a photovoltaic system. For ventilation and cooling, window ventilation is combined with an air conditioning system with heat recovery.
