Gewog Arthur Krupp worked intensively on a completely new concept for social housing, which is considered a showcase project in terms of energy technology and life cycle. The secret of success of the "adaptable" apartments in social housing, with a total of 28 apartments in four structures, is the flexibility of the floor plans in the life cycle and the separability of the two floors. With little effort, a five-room apartment can be turned into two two-room apartments: as a starter apartment for the children, for care in the third stage of life or for subletting in retirement.
All system decisions were made based on life cycle calculations. The innovative energy concept is based on the following components, among others: Heating and cooling by means of building component activation; building envelope in passive house quality; air-water heat pump; photovoltaics with almost complete self-utilization to cover about a quarter of annual electricity consumption (incl. household electricity); use of wind surplus electricity in cooperation with WEB Windenergie AG.
