In an intensive, cooperative planning process with the users, the team around architect Christoph Treberspurg has built a unique semi-detached house with diverse spatial qualities and an innovative ecological approach. Different room heights result in a split-level typology that provides a generous spatial impression with exciting vistas.

The energy supply for heating and hot water is provided by a heat pump with deep geothermal probes as heat sources. A considerable part of the electricity demand is covered by a PV system on the roof. In addition to a highly thermally insulating building envelope with passive house components, the building is also equipped with a living space ventilation system with heat recovery incl. auxiliary heating function.

As part of several research projects, the duplex is being studied with room-wise controlled, component-activated ceilings and predictive control, which allows the building to look two days into the future and controls the heating and cooling system based on weather data. Furthermore, the system can react to peaks in the power grid, changing electricity prices or electricity (PV) that is only available at certain times. (Text: Treberspurg & Partner in shortened form)
